In today’s video, we’re going to talk about how to change the units inside of Fusion 360, as well as how to change the precision of those units.

The units for your project are stored inside your “document settings” on the left hand side of the page. If you click the arrow, you can see that the current units for this project are millimeters. You can change the unit type by clicking on the little button to the right hand side of the setting.

This will allow you to change the active units associated with your current project. There is also an option to make whatever unit type you select the default unit type for future projects as well.

For example – let’s say that I select “feet” and select the “set as default option.” Now if I create a new design, you can see that the default unit for the new project is “feet.”

You can adjust the unit precision inside of Fusion 360 by clicking on your name in the upper right hand corner, then clicking the button for “preferences.” This will pop up a window where you can adjust all your preferences, but specifically in this case, if you go down to “unit and value display,” you’ll see options for changing all the different unit precision, including general, angular, display formats, and more.
